The MACTE accredited Elementary Montessori Diploma course includes lectures and essays on Montessori child psychology, the Montessori concept of education, demonstration and practice with the Montessori materials, sharing impressions of readings, and construction of hand-made material to be used in Elementary classrooms.
The Elementary curriculum involves study in the areas of biology, botany, geography, history, language and literacy, sciences, mathematics, music and creative arts. Cosmic education illustrates the long preparation of the earth coming to life, the unity of and harmony in all things, the impact of human beings on the environment and the teaching of peace.
The Elementary internship is spread over 400 hours, including a minimum of 120 hours of observation and supervised teaching practice in a Montessori elementary classroom.

Practical application in an approved Montessori learning environment, under the guidance of an experienced Montessori certified teacher, is required during this course.
This integral part of the Education course consists of an internship of 400 hours, 120 of which will be supervised teaching practice where the teacher-candidate observes, assists and participates to the dynamic process of education of the host Montessori school. The remaining 280 hours will constitute of independent study, projects, material making and research.
Successful completion of coursework, examination and internship leads to the International Montessori Elementary Education Diploma awarded by the Institute, MACTE Accredited.
Graduates who hold a diploma granted by our program and accredited by the MACTE Commission are recognized by the Ministry of Education of Ontario as qualified to work with children in a Montessori program for children of ages 6 to 9 in compliance with staffing requirements.

Online Training:
A registration Fee of $200.00 is required during your application.
Upon the cancellation of your registration, a refund of $100.00 will automatically be deposited back into your account. Please note that for a refund to occur, you must submit a request prior to the program’s starting date.
The tuition costs are of $6 300.00, split into 4 installments ($1 575.00 each) payable to CMTC. E-transfers, checks and Visa/MasterCard are the accepted methods of payment for tuition fees.
Books have to be purchased by Adult learners (around $80.00).
Teacher candidates receive 8 complimentary Montessori Albums (digital format).
A fee of $300.00 is required in May 2025 to cover the administration regarding the final practical and written examinations.
An official receipt for Federal Income Tax is given to each Teacher Candidate for the fees paid during the civil year (2024 & 2025).
Our mission is to provide children with the best possible Montessori elementary teachers who respect the child and can support their needs. From age 6 to 9, they seek and need an introduction to and an overview of just about everything. The more the child undertakes, the more they learn.

Both Master Teachers Dr. Daniel Jutras and Katherine Schweitzer are well experienced in the preparation of Elementary Montessori teachers: Daniel has a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Ottawa, an AMI diploma (3-6) from Perugia, Italy, and a St.Nicholas Montessori Advanced diploma (6-12) from England; Katherine Schweizer holds an AMI Diploma (3-6) and a two TMI Diplomas (6-9 and 9-12).

The Montessori Elementary Teacher Education course prepares the adult to accompany and guide young children from ages 6 to 9 in a Montessori structured environment.
The Online Training is available in Canada and internationally, starting whenever you are ready, but include an in-person residency of 15 days over 6 weekends during the academic year at the East York location.
